Easy Ways to Get Flat Abs

Defined abdominal muscles containing zero flab are a much desired attribute for most Americans. Unfortunately, having six-pack abs doesn’t happen overnight. Instead, the characteristic is usually the result of hard work, discipline and repetition. But several simple ways exist to aid in your goal of flatter abs along that can also improve overall health.

Diet

Most people may not realize that certain foods are ab-friendly. According to “FITNESS Magazine,” if you want a sleek, sexy stomach, small diet changes may be necessary. Almonds, for instance, contain filling protein and fiber, which helps you feel fuller and eat less. The nuts are also a good source of magnesium, a mineral needed to produce energy, build and maintain muscle tissue, and regulate blood sugar.

Other easy foods to incorporate are eggs and soybeans. Eggs have a balance of essential amino acids, which help your body build muscle fibers, while soybeans are an excellent source of antioxidants, fiber, and protein. Both foods are extremely versatile.

Also, cut down on condiments. Condiments add calories and often unnecessary fat to meals.

Ab Exercises

Various exercises are touted as sure-fire ways to flatten abs, but many do not strengthen all abdomen muscles. According to “Marie Claire” magazine, if you want fast flat abs, make a regimen that works all abdominal muscles. Some examples are “belly rolls,” which are done by sitting with legs bent and feet flat on floor. Keep your arms straight in front of you, and exhale as you roll back and your lower back touches the ground. Hold for a few seconds, then inhale and roll back up. Repeat.

Another simple exercise is “tummy curls.” Start by lying on your back and bending your knees at a 90-degree angle. Raise your feet a few inches above the ground. Exhale, then lift your butt and roll back shoulder blades. Inhale, and roll to the tailbone. Repeat.

Movement in Moderation

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t take an entire half-hour or hour of daily exercise to note a difference in abdominal definition. In fact, according to “Marie Claire,” excessive exercise can be interpreted by your body as stress, causing you to retain too much fluid. Instead, use moderate exercise like speed walking, Pilates and yoga to help speed things through your system and enable abdominal perfection.

Water

Drinking more water has a host of benefits, including better muscle sculpting. More H20 helps bodies retain less water and sweeps unneeded minerals like salt through a body’s system faster.
