Hair Growth

Do you want to grow your hair, but are tired of spending so much money on expensive chemical-based products which might or might not work? Why not take your chance at making homemade remedies which don’t use any harsh chemicals, leave your hair healthy, shiny, and soft, and encourage your hair to grow? Here are some simple recipes and tips that you can use on a daily or every other day basis to help encourage your hair to grow:

1. Egg Conditioner
2 large eggs
1 T. olive oil or castor oil
1/2 tsp. lemon juice (optional)
Beat the eggs and oil together, until they are thoroughly mixed (it’s like emulsifying them with the lemon juice, if you decide to add it). Apply to damp, shampooed hair, and gently massage the scalp. Let it sit for at least ten minutes, but again, more is better. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm to moderately cold water.

2. Herbal Oil Massage
Note: All these oils are available at an herbal store, or, if you prefer, they can be ordered online in large quantities for less. Visit and look for essential oils. (No affiliation with this website; just for your convenience!)
1 T. sweet almond oil
1 T. castor oil
1 T. pure virgin coconut oil
1 T. jojoba oil
Mix all the oils together. Dip your fingertips into the mixture, then gently massage the scalp. Allow to sit more than one hour, or even better, overnight. Wash thoroughly by shampooing with a gentle shampoo. No need to use conditioner! The castor, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil encourage hair growth, while the coconut oil maintains moisture.

3. Honey & Milk Shampoo
1/2 c. honey, warmed
1/2-1 c. milk (buttermilk is great, too)
Make sure that the honey is nice and warm, so that it can be easily mixed with the milk and applied. Mix thoroughly with the milk. Shampoo the hair using a gentle shampoo, rinse, then apply the honey and milk mixture. Leave on for at least ten minutes, but more is better. Rinse out with lukewarm or moderately cold water. Makes your hair soft and shiny, plus adds the sweet scent of honey!

Some more “free” tips:
1. Never wash your hair with water that is too hot. This will open up the hair follicles and make your hair vulnerable to falling out.
2. Massage your scalp at least once a day, but twice a day is even better. Do it for ten minutes at least. If you can have somebody do it for you, great! You can also hang your head down to help increase blood flow to the head.
3. Drink plenty of water. Drink at least the recommended amount of eight glasses per day, but don’t exceed twelve (if of normal weight and height).
4. Keep your hair follicles healthy by eliminating or reducing scalp residue. Don’t put conditioner on the scalp; only condition the tips or half-length of the hair.
5. Trim hair at least once a month or every two months. While it doesn’t necessarily make hair grow faster, it does keep the split ends at bay, and you can keep longer length of hair later on.

Try all of these tips and you’ll see that your hair is healthier, shinier, and much more beautiful. You’ll be proud to wear your head of hair, and there’ll be little wonder why!
