Oily hair is a very unpleasant problem that can be difficult to deal with. Even if you buy expensive and medically-tested hair care products, you face the chance of failure.

The problem with oily hair is that the more you wash, the more will oil glands try to restore the amounts of sebum that were removed. A vicious circle is thus created – you will be unable to enjoy clean and shiny hair, even if you wash and style on a daily basis.

Home-made remedies come to the rescue in such situations. They contain no aggressive washing ingredients. The masks and cleaning lotions are usually made from fruits, vegetables and herbs. Apart from improving scalp condition, these ingredients nourish hair and keep it healthy.

Lemon juice and yogurt are two of the natural products that can become your best allies in the struggle against oily hair.

As already mentioned, oily hair should not be washed too often. You can easily create a natural product that will diminish the secretion of oil glands and will make your hair less heavy.

Ashes from willow branches should be turned in a fine powder. Apply this powder to hair during the night. Comb your hair in the morning. Willow ashes control the secretion of oil glands and will allow you to use shampoo only several times per week.

Rice flour can be used for the same purpose. You can use a coffee grinder to turn rice into fine dust. Rye flour can be used, as well. Apply this powder in the evening and let it work overnight.

If the powder annoys you, wash your hair in the morning using solely water.

A mask that controls the activity of oil glands can be made using egg white.

Beat one egg white, add the juice of one lemon and one cup of yogurt. Apply the mask using your fingertips. This way you will massage the scalp and improve circulation.

Massage for 10 minutes and wash your hair using lukewarm water. This mask will control oil gland secretion and will remove dandruff if you suffer from this problem.

Mix one cup of yogurt with a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate. Mix well and add some lemon juice. Apply the mask once per week and let it act for about half an hour. Wash clean using lukewarm water.

You can also prepare a home-made shampoo that will cause less damage than the commercially made ones. Commercial shampoos contain some harmful chemicals and substances that are strong detergents. These ingredients can interfere with the proper functioning of oil glands and respectively with the healthy appearance of your hair.

An egg yolk can be used to wash your hair. Separate the egg white from the yolk. You can either apply the yolk or mix it with a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate.

Preparing nettle infusion is another good option. It can be used to clean your hair and control the production of sebum.
