How to Cure Oily Greasy Hair Scalp

Having oily hair can be very frustrating. Sometime it seems that no sooner have you washed your hair than it has turned greasy again. This is a problem for men and women all over the world. But there are many ways for you to help turn your hair from greasy to great.

When you wash your hair you need to make sure that the water you use is not too hot. If it is then it will strip the natural oils from the hair. This will cause the scalp to produce more oil than it needs in order to compensate. This in turn will make the hair and scalp look more oily.

This is a major cause of oily hair because many people think that hot water will cure the problem when in fact it will make it worse. The water you use should be no more than lukewarm.

Always make sure that you are using a shampoo that has been designed for greasy hair. If you use shampoo that is not right for your hair type then you will create more problems. If you use a shampoo that is not strong enough then you will not remove the excess oil. But if you use a shampoo that is too strong then you will cause the scalp to produce more oil than is necessary.

Another cause of an oily scalp or oily hair is a lack of conditioner. Many people with oily hair think that a conditioner will make the problem worse. Conditioner lubricates the scalp and protects the hair but the key is to use a conditioner that is specifically designed for oily hair. These contain ingredients that will condition and protect the hair without making it greasy. Normal conditioners will also weigh the hair down making it look limp but conditioners for oily hair have less weight in them so they will not weigh the hair down.

Try not to wash your hair everyday. If you do then you will strip the hair of its natural oils which will make the problem worse. Try to limit yourself to washing your hair every other day. Use dry shampoo or mousse shampoo in between washed to keep your roots looking fresh

Avoid heavy hair products. These will weigh your hair down and make it more greasy more quickly. Steer clear of serums, waxes and pomades. Try to stick to products such as sprays, gels and anything specifically designed for oily hair.
