How to Make your Hair really Shiny

There is no doubt about it, shiny hair is attractive. It looks full of life and health and it makes people want to touch it. But unfortunately many people are not blessed with naturally shiny hair and so they need to put in a lot of effort in order to achieve results. Even if you have dry and dull hair there are many ways for you to turn your hair into shiny, healthy, enviable hair.

The first step on your road to shiny hair is washing. Wet hair is incredibly fragile and so you need to take great care of it to stop it from breaking.

A tip that many hairdressers use is to brush your hair before you wash it. If you do this then not only will your conditioner be able to penetrate more deeply. You will not have to scrub at your hair in order to work the shampoo or conditioner through it. Thoroughly wet your hair with warm water and pour a small amount of shampoo into the palms of your hands. Gently rub the shampoo over your scalp and temples and massage it in with your fingertips. Be careful and do not pull or scrub at the hair because you will damage it if you do.

Rinse the shampoo out by letting the water run down your hair and gently moving it to make sure all of the shampoo has been removed.

Gently remove all of the excess water from your hair by wrapping it in a towel for a couple of minutes. Then apply your conditioner in the same way you applied your shampoo. Leave your conditioner in for as long as possible to allow it to penetrate the hair. Once you have rinsed out all of the conditioner then give your hair one final rinse in cold water. This is another trick that many hairdressers use to help the cuticle of the hair lie flat.

Choose a shampoo and conditioner that are designed to enhance the shine of your hair. These will help the cuticle to lie flat which makes the hair look healthier and shinier.

Always wait until your hair is at least 70% dry before you begin to blow dry it. You should also always use some form of heat protection even if you are only using a blow dryer. Spray it on your hair when it is almost dry.If you use it when the hair is too wet then the water will dilute the serum making it less effective.

Always use your blow dryer on the lowest heat setting. Keep the nozzle pointed downwards onto the hair. This will help the cuticle to lie flat. Use a natural bristled brush and work in sections.

If you want to add some extra shine you can always finish your hair off with a mist of shine spray.
