Our feet need moisture to combat the dryness, but first we have to soften it. You can do this by soaking it in warm water mixed with oils such as olive oil and jojoba oil which have properties that make the skin softer and healthier. Mixing it in with essential oils such as lavender will make your feet smell great and will also relax your feet. Soak your feet in it for around 15-20 minutes to feel the full relaxing benefits.

Exfoliating the feet is the next step. Dry your feet and using a pumice stone gently in circular motions to slough away the dead skin cells. This will take longer for those with extremely dry feet, but with every time, you will see the gradual difference.

These steps are great for those with dry, cracked feet to do as a routine 3-4 times a week to start eliminating it. Those with dry feet should do this 3 times per week. Once your feet are healthy and moisturised, this should be used 1-2 a week for pampering and prevention.

The final step and most important is moisturising, which should be done every day. You can use waxes such as ‘epaderm’ for extremely dry skin or Shea/Cocoa butter for dry skin. Oils again such as olive oil will also moisturise and soften the skin. This should be done after every pampering session and also every night.

When moisturising you should also massage the oils/creams/waxes deeply into your skin, this can take around 5 minutes and will also stimulate circulation, vitality and your senses in your feet, which is an added bonus.

Keeping your feet healthy and moisturised is something to be followed, not just during the summer months but also the other seasons where your feet are covered up. Make sure your feet are healthy, all year round.
