How to use a Pumice Stone

So you’d like to make your foot smoother and get it ready for summer flip-flops or simply for walking barefoot around your home. The pumice stone is one of the best ways to remove calluses and leave your feet baby-smooth as well as baby-soft. However, many people are unaware of the best ways to use a pumice stone. In this article I hope to address some of the different tips that will help you get the most out of your own pumice stone.

The first thing you’ll need to do is simply purchase a pumice stone. You can find them virtually anywhere or you can of course purchase them online as well. I would recommend going to your local beauty supply store or perhaps going to Wal-Mart. Don’t worry, pumice stones can be used multiple times and cost anywhere from a dollar to five dollars.

Once you have your pumice stone, you are going to want to go ahead and get everything ready. You’ll need: soap, some lotion, your pumice stone-obviously, two hand-towels, and a sink. Fill your sink up with very warm water but water that you will be able to soak your foot in. Add a little soap to the water and then let your foot soak in this very warm water with soap for about five minutes. ONLY do one foot at a time. When your foot has finished soaking, go ahead and squirt some lotion on your pumice stone (helps massage your foot and makes it much more soft when finished) and then rub it around with your fingers. Now pull your foot out and pumice it away.

If you’ve never used a pumice stone just think of it as a washcloth washing your foot. All you need to do is rub the pumice stone over your foot. Over and over and over and over and over again. Make sure you focus on rubbing for a long time on the parts of your feet that seem the roughest or have the most calluses. This is important because it will be easy to want to rush on and not keep working on one area but it works best if you are patient.

Finally, when you are finished with your foot rub it off with a towel and then apply lotion to your entire foot (and your leg…it’s always good to moisturize your body) This will keep your foot soft. Now do the other one. Repeat. It’s very easy and simple and can make a big difference in the way your feet look. Really, if you had all of the time in the world you would pumice your feet every week but it is good to shoot for pumice on your feet once a month. It helps get rid of dead skin cells as well and just keeps your feet clean, soft and healthy.
