Tips for having Beautiful Hair

You read about hair care tips all the time, and spend dollars on top of dollars trying out products and crazy “old wives tale” tricks, and nothing seems to work for you. I can give you the best tips that I have tried and they have worked for me. I am a beauty product junkie and I live for fashion magazines, so I have tried A LOT. I have thick hair that is hard to style because it takes so much time, and a ton of heat just to make it manageable.

1. Use a weekley hot oil treatment.
These are amazing and give your over-processed hair a gorgeous shine. The product I most recommend is VO5 Hot Oil Shower treatment. I usually will last me a month and it is simple to use. No warming up hot water and waiting a 2 mintute for the tube to heat up. In fact, no heating is involved in using the hot oil treatment. Its really easy, before you shampoo, you just use the appropriate amount for your length of hair and wait about 45-50 seconds before rinsing out. The treatment works best when rinsed under a minute. Then you shampoo and condition as usual. Ta-Da! Shiny hair.

2. Wash and dry your hair every other day.
This saves your damaged hair from being exposed to too much heat. If you wash every other day, you really only need to style it every other day. If you are one of the lucky ones that don’t have to use a blow dryer and a flat or curling iron then great! But it is still a good idea to wash every other day, or longer if you can stand it. Just think of your hair as a fine piece of silk, the more you wash it, over time it becomes worn and faded looking. Now if you are one of the unlucky few that have oily hair, I recommend a dry shampoo for the days that you dont wash. My favorite is Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo. It smells fabulous and my hair looks freshly done! It is a little pricey, so if you are on a budget I would try using regular baby powder, it works just as well.

3. Use a deep conditioner. You don’t need a super expensive product, just about anything will do. I recommend do this about twice a month to keep your hair soft and hydrated.

4. Last but not least…Baking soda! After using so many products on your hair, your hair can start looking pretty dull, and not feel as clean as it should. Try mixing a teaspoon of any old baking soda in with your shampoo and it will come out squeaky clean! Then you can condition and style as usual. I recommend doing this about every two months.

Follow these simple steps to keep your hair looking fabulous!
