Tips for Soft Feet

If you enjoy wearing sandals and flip flops, it’s important to take care of your feet, as they are frequently on display. But even if you do not like such shoes, you still want to practice self-care so as to keep your feet soft.

And it requires a bit of effort, as your feet do a lot of work for you each day. As you get older, the heels of your feet will likely toughen to some degree as a natural part of the aging process.

But there are a few things you can do to keep your feet their softest. You will need to be disciplined, though, in taking care of your feet. For them to be at their best, they need to be cared for daily.

Below are tips for how to make your feet soft.

* Get a monthly pedicure

If you can afford to get a monthly pedicure, do so. While you will take care of your feet on a daily basis, it’s wise to invest in monthly care by a professional.

When you get a pedicure, dry skin will be removed from the heels of your feet. You will also get a massage and other treatments that can help your feet soften.

* Exfoliate

Once a week, you can exfoliate the bottoms of your feet. Use a pumice stone or buy some exfoliating bath beads. Follow the directions and carefully remove some of the outer, tough layers of skin on the heel areas.

There is also a product you can buy that helps with removing rough skin patches. It’s called the Ped Egg, and you can order this product online or find it at stores like Bath, Bed & Beyond.

* Treat your feet

Each day, you should make it a habit to treat your feet. It’s wise to do this self-care immediately after your bath or shower.

One method that works well is to use a Stridex pad on the bottoms of your feet. Wipe them gently and then apply a generous amount of Vaseline. Then put on cotton socks, and keep them on for a while. This treatment works well if you have severe cracks in your feet.

Another option is to use a foot cream such as Flexitol Heel Balm. Apply a generous amount on your feet and then put on cotton socks. While there are several options on the market, Flexitol is one of the best.

* Protect your feet

Finally, try to protect your feet so they will not get so tough. If you are going to have a long day of city walking, for example, wear socks and running shoes instead of flip flops. When you go to the pool, avoid walking around with bare feet. Instead wear footwear that will protect the bottoms of your feet.
